Simple Ways to Show Your Child Your Love

The sum up of our personalities as an adult is somewhat dependent on our emotional development starting from childhood. As parents, it is important to show love to child for emotional development. We are listing 4 simple ways to show your child love with a huge impact.

Simple Ways to Show Your Child Your Love

1. Praise Their Personality Traits

One of the traditional habits of parents is that they only praise their children when they achieve a certain goal or a milestone. This habit particularly can create low-self esteem in children. As a parent what you should do is praise their personality traits rather than only praising them for achievements. Some of the examples in dialogues include “I like your organising skills”, “Thank you for being kind”, “I appreciate your honesty” and so on.

2. Pay Attention When They Share

One of the simplest ways to love a child is to listen to them when they are sharing something. Lending an ear to your child’s story, or rant builds trust and boosts the feelings of being loved within the child.

By engaging with your child during these conversations, an unbreakable bond is created. You can also show love by asking them related questions. This is also the perfect time to give advice.

3. Counsel Them When In Grief or Troubled

Being there for someone patiently is a form of love. It is a form of love that children need the most. Often children are unable to process their emotions and get overwhelmed. This is where your child needs you the most.

It doesn’t matter how major or minor the issue is that your child is sad or grieving about, you should be there to counsel them as a parent. Being there for your child when there are in distress is one of the ways you can show love to them. Counselling your child when in distress is also a part of their healthy emotional development.

4. Physical Interaction

Gentle physical interaction between parent and child is a part of bonding. However, physical interaction is another simplest way to show your child love. You can do it whenever you see them or are passing. Some of the gentle physical interactions that show love includes hugs, pat on the head, kiss on the forehead, gentle holding hand and so on.

Other than following these tips, it is also advisable to keep a track of your child’s needs and show love as they require/need/ like. Some children are often not really expressive and don’t like being expressed either. For such children, you should opt for subtle ways to show love.
